is losing belly fat and creating abs the same?
ok ok,..So im an average sized 14 year old teen that wants to get some abs.. So i’ve been watching some videos on how to lose weight and how to make abs…arent they the same thing? I mean dont sit-ups burn stomach fat and create abs as well? Im getting different answers from many ppl saying that burning fat and making abs are two diff things..Is that true?
You can’t create abs. You already have them. We all do, its human anatomy. The only reason you can’t see your abs is because you still have body fat covering them. Yes, no matter how low is your weight, if you can’t see your abs then you still have too much body fat covering your abs.
Also, here is one misunderstood information that I will make it a life goal to change in this world. Muscles are not connected to body fat. Muscles already have their own energy storage, they use it when you work them out. You can do all the situps your whole life and you will not remove one inch of body fat. Sure, you will have hard rock abs, but what’s the point of you can’t see them?
Let me try to paint an image for you here that may help you to understand. You’ve seen a lot pictures of guys with six-packs, may be even see them in person.
When was the last time you saw someone with a six-pack and man-boobs??? Or six-pack and flabby arms???
When males get their body fat down to 10% body fat, they will have a flat stomach (with a hint of a 2-pack) with no excess body fat anywhere. That’s what a body fat percentage is, is how much body fat covering your muscles, the less you have of it, the more tone and muscly you will look.
If you can get your body fat to 6-7%, your will have a body fat so low it’s not even enough to cover the cracks of your abs, revealing a whole six-pack.
6-7% body fat (for males only) = six-pack + bros lee’s body (you know what I mean :P)
Hope this helps

They are two different things.
Ab exercises do not burn belly fat but they do burn calories in general so you are burning fat off your whole body.
Ab exercises build up the abdominal muscles which can result in more muscle definition which can make it look like you are losing just belly fat.

Exercising at a pace that keeps your heart rate in your "target heart rate zone" will burn fat. You do this by calculating 220-your age and then multiplying by .60 =.80. That is your target heart rate and that exercising in that zone will cause you to burn fat. Sit ups will NOT burn fat. It will tone and strengthen your abs but if fat remains on top of them, no one will know they are there! That’s why you have to do a combination a cardio (exercising @ target HR) and strength training (moves like crunches and situps). One sheds fat while the other builds muscle. If you do not have fat to lose, then sit ups alone would create visible abs.

You can’t do sit ups to lose stomach fat, they just advertise that to make money. And burning fat will show your muscles better and seem more "tone" than big. And yes they are 2 different things no matter what you hear remember that and watch out for those lieing advertisements, they truly just want money!

They are two different things. Sit ups will help you develop abs that you already have. Everyone has abs some can be seen while others are under a layer of fat. To get abs you need to do cardio. Cardio burn you fat away.

hey bro, im been a bodybuilder for 10 years now, you have abs underneath the belly fat, but if you want them to be poppin out, you gotta make em grow by doing crunches and leg raises. any form of exercise including situps will help you lose fat so your skin is pressin right up against your abs. its up to you how you wanna do it, but best is low intensity cardio to burn fat. I spoke to ronnie coleman last year and he says he never runs or jogs before a contest, only walks on the treadmill or does the stairmaster.
